Our Sharpening Process
The scissor service procedure is designed to ensure that every scissor leaving the Precision Edge workshop complies with its original functional and aesthetic specifications. Each moving part is completely overhauled and each scissor is meticulously refinished to restore its luster. Cutting edges are rigorously tested to guarantee the level of quality and reliability you naturally expect from your scissors.
  • Step 1


    The scissor is completely dismantled, the tensioning system is appraised for wear and tear, and all moving parts are carefully inspected for damage prior to being cleaned.

  • Step 2


    After the scissor is dismantled, each component is cleaned on specially formulated solutions designed to bring out the natural lustre of the metal and highlight any defects.

  • Step 3


    After cleaning there is a further visual inspection for any damage to the scissor, blades, handle & tensioning system.

  • Step 4


    A master sharpener closely examines each individual component of the scissor and identifies which components require replacement. Only genuine replacement parts supplied directly by the manufacturer are used to ensure longevity of each replaced part.

  • Step 5


    Our master sharpeners will check the edge of your scissor to ensure the correct type of sharpening takes place for the convex or bevelled edge of your blade. Using state of the art factory equipment, our master sharpeners will ensure that your blades are returned to you with precision sharpness and free from nicks.

  • Step 6


    The polishing service allows your scissors to regain their original shine and brilliance. The blades are polished to restore the smoothness and ease of the cut. As with the sharpening service, our experienced and highly trained master sharpeners will safeguard against excessively polishing your blades to make sure the longevity of your scissor is maintained. Superficial scratches are removed.

  • Step 7

    Lubrication & Reassembly

    The same keen attention to detail that is devoted to cleaning, sharpening and polishing your scissor also goes into reassembling your scissor. After initial cleaning and sharpening, the pivot area, tension system and all moving parts are closely examined and any worn or damaged components replaced with genuine manufacturer’s parts. Using the most advanced lubricants, each functional component of the movement is carefully lubricated to minimise friction and prevent wear. This ensures that the movement of your scissors will continue to perform accurately.

  • Step 8

    Test Cut

    Quality control specialists make specific cuts using specialised materials designed to reveal any imperfection in the blade alignment and finish. Finally, a test cut is carried out on human hair to ensure factory like sharpness has been achieved on every scissor before they are given a final cleaning.

  • Step 9

    Final Quality Control

    Rigorous quality checks are carried out at each stage of the servicing process. During the final check, all moving parts of your scissor are verified one last time against manufacturing specifications to guarantee the highest possible standard of quality.
